Booker T. Jefferson JR, son of Booker Jefferson SR and Rosalie Jefferson, was born on September 7, 1943, in Newark, New Jersey. He departed this life peacefully in his sleep on February 8, 2024, at the Coquina Center in Ormond Beach, Florida. Booker graduated from Southside High School in Newark, New Jersey, and pursued his education at Compton College in California, earning his Associate’s Degree. With a passion for music, Booker performed in various theaters and venues in Newark, NJ, drawing inspiration from The Whispers. In 1964, he married Roachai Bailey, and they welcomed their daughter, Dawn Jefferson, shortly thereafter. A dedicated and hardworking individual, Booker held positions at John's Bargain Department Store and later at PSEG Utility Company in Newark, NJ, where he served for 25 years. It was at PSEG where he met his beloved spouse, Fatima Havaien. Booker and Fatima relocated to Deltona, Florida, where they purchased a beautiful home together. Both worked at Disney World until their retirement, 20 years later. Booker was a devoted deacon and member of New Hope Baptist Church, where he served tirelessly for many years. He is preceded in death by his spouse Fatima Jefferson, parents, and brothers Quienton Jefferson and Emory Jefferson. Booker leaves behind cherished memories to his daughters Dawn Jefferson-Barnette and Quentina Brown, son-in-law Christopher Brown, brother-in-law Robert “Bobby” Havaien, sister-in-law Alberta “Pumpkin” Havaien, grandchildren Anthony Barnette, Jazmine Barnes, Courtney Brown, Akeelah Brown, and great-granddaughter Lawren Levy. He is also remembered by his niece Tara Jefferson and a host of relatives and friends. Booker T. Jefferson JR was a phenomenal husband, father, grandfather, friend, and deacon. His loyalty, kindness, and loving presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished in our hearts and memories. As he embarks on his journey to heaven, we imagine the angels giving him a warm welcome and a thumbs up.
