Life Reflections

Carmen Lydia Ramirez, (Affectionately called “Bole”) was born on May 15, 1935, in Humacao, Puerto Rico. She is the first child for Galo Gomez and the third child for Jesusa Cruz-Gomez. She was educated in her city of birth, Humacao, Puerto Rico. After she left school, she worked as a Florist in a Flower Shop, where she demonstrated her unique skills.

In and around 1957, Carmen relocated to the United States. She began working as a Seamstress in the garment district, in New York City, in the Fur Coat Department. Over the years, she worked her way up in the company and received many accolades.

In 1969, Carmen and Frank met and began a relationship. During the early years of their courtship, Carmen had to leave her job to care for her dear mother, until her passing. Carmen and Frank got married in 1974, Bronx, New York, where they lived an adventurous life. In 2002, they relocated to Miami, Florida. In 2003, they moved to Orlando, Florida, where they lived until 2015. They then moved to Deltona, Florida, to present.

Carmen departed this life at 6:55 P.M., on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at AventHealth Fish Memorial, in Orange City, Florida. She is predeceased by her father, Galo Gomez; mother, Jesusa Cruz-Gomez; sister, Theresa Castro. Carmen leaves behind her husband, Frank Ramirez; sister, Monin Gomez; a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends.
