Myrna Martinez Obituary

Myrna Marengo Martinez

May 25, 1945 – July 8, 2022

Myrna Marengo Martinez was born on May 25, 1945 in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, to the parents of Carmen Velazquez and Angel Marengo.  Both parents preceded her in death including her stepfather Bonifacio Osorio.  She was the 4th child of 11children: Arnaldo (deceased), Angela, Radames (deceased), Mirsonia, Jorge (deceased), Rafael, Carmen, Enit, and Luz.

At the age of 15, Myrna moved to New York City to provided support to her older brother and care for his newborn son.  Thereafter, Myrna married and had 5 children: Myrna, Miriam, Angelo, Michelle and Marlene.

Her career path in life was chosen for her as she accepted the responsibility of raising her 5 children, as well as her younger brothers and sisters, when her mother suddenly passed away at the young age of 54.  Myrna showed tough love, and sacrificed so much for her children and family.

Myrna traveled the world including Italy, France, Greece, Spain, and many places in the Caribbean, Latin America and within the United States.  She mostly loved entertaining family, cooking and celebrating holidays together, family cruises, gardening, and every so often the casino.

She was a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, a sister, aunt, cousin and an amazing friend.  Those who knew Myrnaknew that she took every role very seriously.  There was no time nor place she would not have been there for each of them.  Myrna loved and cared wholeheartedly, and in a big way.  She had no time to be tired, or shed tears.  She worked tirelessly in her home and helping others.  She had a passion for gardening, cooking and cleaning, and constantly remodeling her home in the latest styles and fashion.  She never complained about what she had made her responsibility, and most of the time, if not all of the time, it was for someone else.

We mourn the loss and celebrate the life of Myrna Martinez who joins her husband Ventura in heaven.  She leaves her sisters Ida, Angela, Mirsonia, Carmen, Enit and Luz, brother Rafael, her children Myrna, Miriam, Angelo, Michelle, Marlene, Step son Michael (Miguelito), her grandchildren Mark, Joey, Joshua, Miguel, Ventura, Stephanylynn, Michelle, Chatiana, Ciara, Grace, Michael and Daniel, great grandchildren Kayloni, Julian, Jovan, Genesis, Amaya, Noah, Robert Jr., Zhavia, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.
