1942 - Roland Ashby Rier - 2022
Dr. Roland Ashby Rier passed away peacefully Wednesday March 16, 2022 in the presence of his devoted brother-in-law Thomas Fauntleroy (Tommy). Dr. Rier was born on April 24, 1942 in Boyce, VA. He was the son of the late Rev. John P. Rier Sr. and Edith V. Mitchell Rier.
He received his education in the public schools of Boyce and Berryville VA. He later moved to Washington DC with his mother following the death of his father.
Dr. Rier attended Howard University were he received his Bachelor's and Master's in education and years later obtain his Doctorate in education at George Washington
University.
Dr. Rier enjoyed teaching, he was hip with different slangs and vernacular of the students he taught. He taught History and Government at Langley Jr. High, Ballou and H.D. Woodson High Schools in Washington DC.

After retiring from teaching, he relocated to Deltona, FL and lived with his sister and brother-in-law, who helped to care for him until his death.
Dr. Rier is preceded in death by his parents,
Brother John P. Rier Jr. and Leonard C. Rier;
Sisters Violetta Rier Johnson and Vivian Rier Christian
He is survived by his sister Lela Rier Fauntleroy (Tommy), a host of loving nieces, nephews; family and friends
